  • House Progress!!
Ground was finally broken on our house about two weeks ago - woo hoo!! We met with the building supervisor this morning, and the expected closing date is late July to August. Here is a picture of the house on June 5th from the front and from the back. The picture from the back is taken from the same angle as previously posted pictures of "our dirt". Since then, the front door was installed, garden tub was delivered, and shingles are ready to be put on. Needless to say, we're both very excited!
  • Rings
We also picked up our rings tonight from the Shane Company. Of course, we finally took pictures to share over the internet, so here is a picture of Kris' ring and one of my wrap and engagement ring. You may be able to see some of the inscription I had placed in Kris' band. It reads "Come What May 6.28.2003". If you've explored the "Our Engagement" webpage, this would not be a surprise as its the song which was playing when Kris proposed. I toyed with having "Put me back on!" engraved, but went more sentimental - awww :-)
  • We're Legal!
We also stopped by the Boone County Courthouse today and received our marriage license. That's actually a big relief for me since I have had several nightmares about forgetting to get the marriage license. Yeah, today was a pretty busy day - hehe!
  • Party Shuffle
Due to some extenuting circumstances, our bridal party has changed a bit. Luckily, my college roommate from Purdue, Mary Zarolinski, recently moved back to Indiana and has stepped up to be a bridesmaid for us. Thanks Mary!!
  • Bridal Shower
Jackie and Stephanie hosted a bridal shower for me last Saturday, May 31st. It went very well and I completely enjoyed myself! :-) Teresa put together a very touching PowerPoint slideshow of pictures from Kris' and my childhood, high school, and more recent photos. Once I get my hands a copy, I'll post it on here to share :-)

  • My Dress
I went for my first alterations appointment last week. Surprisingly, little has to be done other than taking up the hem. :-) I do have pictures, but won't be posting them so Kris cannot see them. If you're curious, let me know, and I can e-mail a picture to you. I just want to take a moment to thank my dad and Betty for helping me get the dress of my dreams - I love it!!
  • More Dresses
Bridesmaids' dresses arrived at David's last Tuesday. Sounds like the shipment to Minnesota and California went without a hitch. I had the "frou-frou" mobile the day I picked them up with 4 bridesmaids dresses and my crinoline in the backseat of my car!
  • Un-Dresses
Just a little reminder that groomsmen's and dads' measurements need to be in by May 28th to Mr. Penguin in Lafayette. You can either go to the store to have measurements taken or you can have someone local take your measurements and call them in to Mr. Penguin. Their phone number is (765) 449-1475.
  • Be Our Guest!
Invitations were sent out early this month. I was so happy to finish them since my hand didn't feel so hot after writing a few of the addresses. Response cards are coming in almost on a daily basis now. Its rather nice to get mail that isn't a bill or junk mail!
  • Rings
We purchased our wedding rings a few weeks ago from the Shane Company in Indy. Can you believe it? We didn't think to take the digital camera with us, so we don't have any pictures of the rings to share at this time. *sorry* Kris' ring is two-tone yellow and white gold. The inner band is in white gold with diamond etching on it which should minimize scratches. Mine is a yellow gold wrap with two rows of 3 diamonds which will set on either sids of the marquis diamond of my engagement ring. Pretty!
  • Dance! Dance! Dance!
Yeah!!! We FINALLY found a DJ for our reception! Honestly, this was the most difficult vendor to find out of all of the ones we are using. Either DJs charged an arm and a leg, were previously booked for our date, did not respond to calls, or danced around in a chicken head to "The Chicken Dance"...honestly!
  • Dirt Sweet Dirt
Well, time's passed and as our initial estimate for a closing date nears, nothing has been done to our lot yet. *grrrrr* We are back to the frustrated point again. Supposedly, our frame date will be May 22nd, but that is the third date we have been given as the previous two have been delayed. *sigh* Here is a picture of our dirt that was taken a few months ago. The only change is now the grass is longer. Our lot is the space between the blue lines and orange fence. Its deeper than this picture looks as Kris took this while standing on a hill behind the lot.
  • Gratuitous Puppy Update
Bandit is doing well. He's about 60 pounds now and dwarves my mom's cocker spaniel. Hehe! I'm teaching him to play frisbee, and he seems to be taking to it well. Except for my wild throw into a strong wind that sent the frisbee over the garage roof. Perhaps I should focus on learning to throw a frisbee first - hehe!

  • Dress Arrived!
YEAH!!! I got a call Friday from the Bridal Superstore to let me know that my dress is in. Needless to say, I'm quite relieved! Next step will be the alterations, of course :-)
  • Gotta Love Mailorder
Invitations arrived Thursday while Kris and I were at work. We're very thankful that they were not damaged since they were left in a box on our front porch in a rain storm! My veil arrived today and was left in a box by our garage door. You guessed it, we were forecast for rain. Luckily, I got home early and all's well! I've been practicing my penmanship to get ready to address invitations. Goodness knows, I cannot write straight without lines!
  • House Update
Kris and I selected the colors for the house last Friday, too. The siding is sand with winestone (dark burgandy) shutters and doors. The carpet is beige - yeah, no more green shag!! The kitchen and master bathroom's counters will be in almond leather. The guest bath's counter will be green tigris. Construction will be starting in the next week and a half or so. Some of the delays were caused by a problem with our permits which was just straightened out on Friday. Kris and I are very excited again!
  • Random Silliness
So many of life's goofy moments are captured on film, and it was contagious around our house this past weekend! I got a makeover on Friday night for something "natural looking" for the wedding. Here's the result....slap on a tiara and I'm a vacuous princess! Keep in mind I asked for "natural" - haha! What would a website update be without a gratuitous picture of Bandit? So here he is chewing on one of his new Easter toys. I caught him mid-lick--Super Tongue!!

  • Host Problems
First of all, let me apologize for this site's absence for the past few weeks if you have attempted to access it. The web host Kris was using for his www.paintballelite.com domain went out of business and terminated all services to its customer's websites. Of course, all of this was done without notifying any of their customers. :-P Luckily, it was caught before June and we've since moved to a new host.
  • Wedding Party Outfits
My dress has yet to arrive, as of Friday, its due in during "mid-April". Should I be uneasy now especially since it will need about four inches in length taken off? I ordered my veil a few weeks ago from www.veilshop.com after finding some glowing reviews on their service. Bridesmaids' dresses are on order from David's Bridal in Castleton and should be in during the May timeframe. Chelsea's flowergirl dress arrived in under two weeks from David's, not bad! Here is a picture of Chelsea in a sample gown at David's; isn't she cute! Kris also picked out the tuxes for the groomsmen. Since peach and powder blue were not available together, the tuxes are black with ivory shirt, vest, and tie. Men's measurements will need to be taken by or called into Mister Penguin and Bridal Boutique by May 28th. The phone number for Mister Penguin's in Lafayette is (765) 449-1475.
  • Decorations
Being completely out of my element with decorations, I have been relying heavily on my mom and Kris' mom in this department. :-) The centerpieces will look like this; I just love them! My mom's been busy making huge bows and decorating little jars of bubbles. I wanted to take a bit of time to say a BIG THANKS to both of you for all your help! The flowers are on order as well from www.wedideas.com as mentioned in the last update. We are going with the "Crystals" collection in navy blue and ivory with silver accents.
  • Invitations
Since last Friday was my flex-day, I ventured into ordering the invitations and cake napkins through mail order. Over an hour of struggling through the order form, I came to a hault on the response cards. All of them had the line "M__________" and I had no idea what this meant, so naturally, I left it off the order and proceeded with my struggle with the order form. I filled the entire form only to mess up the very last line and then had to fill out another order form. *grrrr* After getting a call from the inviation company on Friday, I learned that the "M______" line is commonly placed on the response cards so the invitee can fill in Mr/Ms/Mrs and their last name. Am I the only one that thinks that "Name________" would just be much easier? :-)
  • House Woes
As of last Friday evening, nothing has been started on our house. We've started to refer to it as our "dirt" since it has been about two months since we finished the paperwork to purchase it, thanks for the idea Jackie! :-) According to the builder, the little town only can process five building permits a week. We are supposed to have framing started by the first week of May, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Of course, the delays will make it impossible to have the house finished before the wedding, for which Kris and I were both really hoping. Luckily, I spoke with our landlady and we can stay as long as needed in the house we are in now. Quite a blessing considering our lease is up while we'll be on our honeymoon and temporary housing runs $2,000 per month!

  • FAMILY & BRIDAL PARTY PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS :)
The rehearsal is scheduled at Duncan Hall at 5-6 PM on Friday, June 27th (anytime after 6 pm would cost an additional $300 *GASP!*). Dinner will follow at the Seattle Beanery in West Lafayette.
  • Vendor Search
Our search for a photographer, caterer, and baker has concluded. We are going with Weaver Photography from Lafayette. Seattle Beanery will cater the reception, and Kelly's Cakes will be our baker. I think Chelsea really enjoyed our search for a cake baker last weekend, free, yummy cake :) Click here to see a picture of our cake, just imagine the pink icing is light blue. We are planning on having a groom's cake, too. Right now, we are leaning towards having a round or sheet cake with a picture of Bandit on it with "Congratulations 'Mom & Dad'" written on it. Too cute and befitting for us! I'm planning on e-mailing an online florist out of Florida today to get a price estimate on flowers. Aren't these flowers just gorgeous? I thought I found the perfect wedding band for Kris, on this website. Apparently, it was a little too geeky even for Kris' tastes. We're still tossing around the idea of hiring a DJ, so if you have any recommendations or warnings, please let me know. To top it all off, we're drafting the ceremony script, too at the present time. Ahh...nothing quite like procrastination :)
  • Registered
Kris and I registered a few weekends ago. We have a bridal registry set up with Target and Menard's. Target's registry
is available online at www.target.com; Menard's is available in stores. The best piece of wedding/marriage advice I've ever
received that I will share now is this, let the groom have the scanner gun while registering. We met a rather argumentative couple registering as we were merrily scanning kitchenwares. When asked if we were fighting as much as they were, we replied "not at all." Scanner guns make registering fun for grooms, even while looking at household goods that they could seemingly care less about. :)
  • Moving on Up -- Again!
Ok, ok, so we just moved in a little less than a year ago into the house we are renting now. Kris and I are going to be moving
again. We just signed a contract to build a new home last week in a new subdivision in Whitestown, Indiana. In the past few months, we've became tired of renting and wanted a home to truly call our own. We also have become really attached to our dog, Bandit, but he is not allowed to be an inside dog where we live now. Our house will be a 4 bedroom, 2 full bath, ranch. Ok, so we are skimping on the brick exterior to get our house wired with Cat-5 cable for our computer network. What can you really expect
out of two computer geeks? Need to have priorities, and we are very excited about purchasing our first home :) Help us out
by hoping and praying for the bad winter weather to break as construction cannot start with our current snowy, frigid
conditions here in Indiana. We looked into buying a pre-existing home, but were left with a lot to be desired after seeing
some homes in the Lebanon area which would have been pricier than building our own home and needed painting, carpet, structural
    work, etc.
  • Honeymoon Plans
Ok...so the least stable factor thus far with the wedding has been the honeymoon location. To date, we've looked into 5 different locations spanning from Hawaii to the Florida Keys. However, we've chosen to stay a bit closer to home and have booked a chalet in Gatlinburg, Tennessee for the week following our wedding. It has a spectacular view of the Smoky Mountains from the hot tub on the deck according to the rental agency's website. If you're curious, here's a link to the chalet we are renting:-)
  • My Gown
My bridal gown was ordered in early January and will hopefully be in shortly. I've been searching through various websites to find a fitting veil and shoes. I've really liked www.veilshop.com and www.discountweddingshoes.com. This part of planning has been really fun for me :) Just have to pick out a hairstyle now which should be interesting given the sheer amount of hair I have.
  • Cuteness Alert! - Puppy Update
Since we adopted Bandit in late August, we have put him through puppy preschool and obedience training. He was labelled as the "class bully" in puppy preschool, but always fell asleep after playtime with the other puppies. Through obedience training, he has learned a sit and down with an implied stay, crate training, and how to heel. He behaves really well at home; however, he forgets all of his manners when we go to PetsMart, which is the best place in the whole world in his eyes. He also knows how to shake "hands" and wave. Bandit is a ball of playful energy and is always up for a game of fetch or tug. He loves long walks and going "bye-bye" with us. Click here to see a picture of Bandit in the recent snow.

  • Newest Addition to our Family!
We have adopted a little 6 week old puppy over Labor Day weekend. Click here to see our page dedicated to our "little guy" at http:\\www.painballelite.com\wedding\bandit.htm!
  • Extra! Extra!
Our wedding announcement was recently in the Peru Daily Tribune. The Knotts family successfully took over the announcements segment with our engagement announcement, Stephanie & Tait's engagement announcement, and Marcus & Jackie's wedding announcement. Click here to view a copy of our wedding announcement. Oh, and kudos to the Tribune for the completely...err...original (??) headline for our announcement :-P
  • Bridesmaids' Update
The Yahoo! Groups poll has concluded. The winning dress style was Option #1 by Mori Lee. Good news, that is a fairly inexpensive dress, even compared to David's Bridal prices!! Its available at the Posie Patch Bridal Superstore in Indianapolis and can be seen in the Virtual Bridesmaids' Boutique.
  • Vendor Search
Ahh...now begins the "fun" (???) portion of wedding planning, finding the proper vendors to use. We now have our ceremony music reserved - Trio Amabile from Lafayette. We're researching different options for wedding photographers, so if anyone has a recommendation/warning please feel free to e-mail Christina.

  • Officiant Found!
Yeah! We've found an officiant for our wedding. *drum roll please* Kris' uncle, Steve, will be our officiant :-) He has received certification to become a judge pro temp and can legally marry us. Thanks for all the suggestions!
  • Virtual Bridesmaids' Boutique
There has been an additional dress added to the Bridesmaids' Boutique.
  • The Polls are Now Open
Vote for your favorite bridesmaids' dress style through the poll on the Yahoo! group, knotts-hall wedding. I plan on phasing out unpopular styles and possibly replacing them with more options as time goes by as I find what styles are more popular.

  • Yahoo! Group
We have set up a discussion group on Yahoo! to keep you informed, to keep in touch, and to notify you of updates to our website. If you are or know of an interested person who is not a part of the list yet, please e-mail us, and I can invite you to the list.
  • Virtual Bridesmaids' Boutique
With recent graduations and job offers, the bridesmaids are now located all across the U.S. To simplify the hunt for a style of bridesmaids' dress, I've set up a the Virtual Bridesmaids' Boutique to showcase options for a bridesmaids' dress and to receive your feedback on the gown styles. Please, take a look and let me know what you think of the dresses I've found so far.
  • The Great Gown Search Winds Down!
After a few weeks of comparing dresses and asking for family's and friend's input, I have decided which dress to wear; however, it is not on order just yet.
  • Home Sweet Home
We are finally all settled into our new home!! It took some time, but it was well worth it since the house is set up to our liking. Click here to see the front our new home and to read a little description of it.
